Amazon EBS Optimized EC2 Instances

AWS has made available the Amazon Elastic Block Storage (Amazon EBS) optimized Amazon EC2 C8gb, M8gb, and R8gb instances in 48xlarge sizes, and C8gb and R8gb in metal-48xl sizes. These instances are powered by AWS Graviton4 processors, offering up to 30% better compute performance than AWS Graviton3 processors.

Key Features:

  • EBS Performance: Up to 300 Gbps of EBS bandwidth and up to 1440K IOPS, the highest among non-accelerated compute EC2 instances.
  • Scalability: Available in sizes up to 48xlarge, with two metal sizes, three memory to vCPUs ratios, and up to 400 Gbps of networking bandwidth.
  • Networking: Support for Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) networking for lower latency and improved cluster performance.

Availability:

  • Regions: US East (N. Virginia) and US West (Oregon).
  • Metal sizes: Available only in US East (N. Virginia).
