Amazon WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances Update

Amazon WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances now supports the ModifyVolume API, allowing you to change volume size, volume type, IOPS, or throughput without detaching the volume or restarting the instance. Previously, changing storage capacity or performance required rebuilding the instance.

What to do

  • Call ModifyVolume directly or use it through your WorkSpaces Core partner solution once available.
  • Review the ModifyVolume documentation in the WorkSpaces Instances API Reference.
  • Check Limitations in the Amazon EBS User Guide.
  • Visit the WorkSpaces Core page for more information.
  • Volume Size: Increase up to 16,384 GiB.
  • Volume Types: Switch between supported Amazon EBS volume types.
  • IOPS: Adjust for gp3, io1, and io2 volumes.
  • Throughput: Modify for gp3 volumes.
