AWS MCP Server adds a serverless capability for AWS Lambda functions

AWS Model Context Protocol Server Updates

AWS Model Context Protocol Server (AWS MCP Server) now includes a serverless capability to help coding agents diagnose issues with your Lambda functions. This feature allows agents to inspect Lambda functions and their connected resources across various AWS services.

New Features

  • Serverless capability for diagnosing Lambda function issues.
  • Inspection of connected resources across Amazon API Gateway, Amazon EventBridge, Amazon S3, Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon SNS, Amazon SQS, and AWS Step Functions.
  • Correlation of error signals against a 7-day baseline.
  • Identification of recurring errors to spot trends.
  • Retrieval of deployed configuration of functions and connected resources.
  • Timeline of recent changes to track activity.
  • Analysis of service latency across connected resources.
  • Reduced token consumption by consolidating data in a single call.

What to do

  • Configure the Agent toolkit for AWS by running ‘aws configure agent-toolkit’ from the AWS CLI.
  • Enable the AWS MCP Server directly.
