Amazon EventBridge Payload Size Increase

Amazon EventBridge has increased the event payload size from 256 KB to 1 MB, allowing developers to handle richer and more complex payloads for their event-driven applications without the need to split, compress, or externalize data.

This enhancement enables the ingestion of large-language model prompts, telemetry signals, and complex JSON structures for machine learning outputs directly within a single event, streamlining architectures and reducing the need for complex data chunking or external storage solutions.

What to do

  • Update your applications to take advantage of the new 1 MB payload size.
  • Review your current data handling processes to optimize for the new limit.
  • Ensure your applications are compatible with the new payload size in all regions where EventBridge is available.
