Amazon Time Sync Service adds support for microsecond-accurate time on 135 additional EC2 instance types in all commercial regions

Amazon Time Sync Service Updates
Amazon Time Sync Service now supports microsecond-accurate time on 135 additional EC2 instance types across 12 instance families in all commercial regions. This enhancement leverages Amazon's network infrastructure and the AWS Nitro System, providing nanosecond-precision hardware timestamps.
Newly Supported Instance Families
- Gen8 families: C8a, C8i, C8i-flex, C8id, M8i, M8i-flex, R8a, X8i
- Gen9 families: C9g, C9gd, M9g, M9gd
Precision Time Placement Group (PTPG)
Customers can now create a PTPG to launch instances with Precision Time Protocol hardware clock (PHC) enabled. This placement strategy allows for microsecond-accurate time and can be associated with a Cluster Placement Group (CPG) for low-latency workloads.
What to do
- Create a PTPG to enable microsecond-accurate time on supported instance types.
- Associate a PTPG with a CPG for low-latency, precision time benefits.
