Amazon OpenSearch Service Enhancements

Amazon OpenSearch Service has introduced two new insights to Cluster Insights: Cluster Overload and Suboptimal Sharding Strategy. These insights provide visibility into shard imbalances and elevated cluster resource utilization, offering actionable recommendations to improve cluster health.

New Insights

  • Cluster Overload: Identifies elevated cluster resource utilization that can lead to request throttling or rejections.
  • Suboptimal Sharding Strategy: Detects shard imbalances that cause uneven workload distribution.

What to do

  • Monitor cluster health with the new insights for proactive issue detection.
  • Follow the provided recommendations to optimize shard distribution and resource utilization.
