AWS Model Context Protocol (MCP) Proxy for AWS

AWS announces the general availability of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Proxy for AWS, a client-side proxy that enables MCP clients to connect to remote, AWS-hosted MCP servers using AWS SigV4 authentication. This release supports popular agentic AI development tools and frameworks, allowing developers to extend workflows to include AWS service interactions.

What to do

  • Install the Proxy from source, Python package managers, or a container.
  • Connect to remote MCP servers with AWS credentials using the Proxy.
  • Utilize safety controls such as read-only mode, configurable retry logic, and logging.

Visit the AWS GitHub repository for installation and configuration options.
