AWS Introduces Claude Opus 4.8

AWS now offers Claude Opus 4.8 -- Anthropic's most capable generally available model to date -- delivering meaningful advances across agentic coding, professional knowledge work, and long-running autonomous tasks for developers and enterprises building production AI applications.

Key improvements include:

  • Performs longer autonomous runs
  • Deeper reasoning and consistency for production work
  • Reads codebases like an engineer, plans before editing, and holds context across long sessions
  • Better at finding paths around obstacles, recovering from errors, and knowing when to ask for help
  • Synthesizes across long documents and complex sources, self-checks output, and delivers structured deliverables

Access Methods

Customers can access Claude Opus 4.8 via:

  • Amazon Bedrock: Keeps data within AWS infrastructure, provides access through a unified service with AWS-managed features like Guardrails, Knowledge Bases, and regional data residency.
  • Claude Platform on AWS: Direct access to Anthropic's native platform experience and capabilities via the AWS Console, unified with AWS billing and authentication.
