AWS Secrets Manager Updates

AWS Secrets Manager now supports managed external secrets for MongoDB Atlas and Confluent Cloud, enabling centralized management and automatic rotation of secrets for these services directly from AWS Secrets Manager.

New Features

  • Support for MongoDB Atlas: database user secrets (username-password via SCRAM) and service account secrets (OAuth client ID and secret).
  • Support for Confluent Cloud: API key rotation for service accounts, including cluster-scoped and cloud resource management keys.
  • Automatic rotation enabled by default, reducing operational overhead.
  • No need for custom Lambda rotation functions as secret rotation is fully managed by AWS Secrets Manager.
