AWS Lambda Durable Functions in AWS GovCloud

AWS Lambda durable functions are now available in the AWS GovCloud (US-West) and AWS GovCloud (US-East) Regions. These functions enable developers to build reliable multi-step applications and AI workflows within the Lambda developer experience.

Durable functions extend the Lambda programming model with new primitives such as "step" and "wait", allowing for checkpointing progress, automatic recovery from failures, and pausing executions without incurring compute charges for on-demand functions.

What to do

  • Activate durable functions for new Lambda functions using Python, Node.js, Go, .Net, or Java.
  • Use the AWS Lambda API, AWS Management Console, or AWS SDK.
  • Consider using infrastructure as code tools like AWS CloudFormation, AWS SAM, and AWS CDK.
