AWS IoT Core

AWS IoT Core now provides two new Amazon CloudWatch Log event types to help troubleshoot device connectivity issues and authentication errors across your IoT fleet.

New Features

  • Ping log: Emitted when devices send MQTT Keep-alive messages, enabling identification of connections or devices that were unable to keep the connection alive.
  • Connection.AuthNError log: Records rejected connection attempts due to authentication failure, with detailed error codes to resolve credential and certificate issues faster.

What to do

  • Configure event-level logging in your AWS IoT Core settings with your desired log level and Amazon CloudWatch log group destination.
  • Opt into the new event types.

The new event types are available in all AWS Regions where AWS IoT Core is available. To learn more, see AWS IoT log entries in the AWS IoT Core developer guide.
