AWS HealthOmics Resource Fallback for Nextflow Workflows

AWS HealthOmics introduces the resource fallback directive for tasks in your Nextflow workflows, allowing you to define an ordered list of preferred accelerator types, including a fallback to CPU instances. This feature helps researchers and bioinformaticians reduce time spent diagnosing and resubmitting runs due to accelerator constraints.

What to do

  • Define your preferred accelerator types in the fallback order.
  • Configure timeouts for each accelerator profile.
  • Include a CPU profile as a final fallback.

Resource fallback is available in all AWS HealthOmics Regions. For more information, visit the advanced resource configuration and Nextflow specifics documentation.
