AWS HealthImaging adds native JPEG 2000 Lossless support

AWS HealthImaging JPEG 2000 Lossless Support
AWS HealthImaging now offers JPEG 2000 Lossless as a transfer syntax for storing and retrieving lossless medical images. This simplifies integration with applications requiring JPEG 2000 encoded DICOM data.
Customers can now choose between JPEG 2000 lossless and High-throughput JPEG 2000 (HTJ2K) for storing lossless DICOM data. HealthImaging data stores enabled for JPEG 2000 Lossless compression integrate more easily with legacy applications while maintaining low latency image retrieval performance from the cloud.
JPEG 2000 Lossless support is available in all AWS Regions where AWS HealthImaging is generally available: US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), and Europe (Ireland).
What to do
- Update your applications to use JPEG 2000 Lossless for lossless DICOM data storage.
- Enable JPEG 2000 Lossless compression in your HealthImaging data stores for better integration with legacy applications.
- Retrieve image frames in the JPEG 2000 Lossless (1.2.840.10008.1.2.4.90) format without latency from transcoding.
