AWS End User Messaging Release Notes

AWS End User Messaging now offers end-to-end managed one-time passcode (OTP) verification in Notify. This feature allows you to implement a working OTP solution in under five minutes, including AWS phone numbers and code verification, without the need to set up a phone number, register with carriers, or manage message delivery.

Previously, you had to generate the passcode yourself and pass it to Notify to send, and you had to build and maintain the logic to create, store, and expire codes. Now, Notify generates the code, delivers it, and verifies the code the recipient enters, enabling you to ship a complete verification flow without additional work.

You can deliver codes over text, voice, and now WhatsApp. You set the rules once in a notify code configuration: the code type, length, validity period, and the number of attempts a recipient gets, along with your templates for each channel. From then on, one call sends a code to a recipient on the channel you choose, and another checks the code they enter.

What to do

  • Set up your notify code configuration in AWS End User Messaging.
  • Choose the delivery channel (text, voice, or WhatsApp).
  • Configure your code rules and templates.
  • Send and verify OTP codes with a single call.

Notify is available in all commercial AWS Regions where AWS End User Messaging is available.
