AWS Cost and Usage Report 2.0 Integration with AWS Athena and AWS Redshift

AWS Cost and Usage Report 2.0 (CUR 2.0) now offers new integration options with AWS Athena and AWS Redshift. This allows customers to analyze their AWS CUR 2.0 data in Amazon S3 using standard SQL, without the need for custom data warehouse solutions.

When customers choose Athena or Redshift integration, CUR 2.0 exports are automatically delivered in the optimal format (Parquet, GZIP) for the selected query engine. Each export includes metadata and automation resources, such as infrastructure templates, table definitions, and data loading instructions, enabling quick querying of cost data without manual configuration. As CUR 2.0 data refreshes periodically, updates are automatically reflected in the Athena or Redshift tables without additional ETL.

Availability

This feature is available in all commercial AWS Regions, except the AWS GovCloud (US) Regions and the China Regions.

What to do

  • Explore the new integration options in the AWS Cost Management User Guide.
  • Set up CUR 2.0 exports for Athena or Redshift integration.
  • Begin querying your cost data using standard SQL.
