AWS Agent Registry Custom Metadata

AWS Agent Registry now supports custom metadata to enhance governance and discovery of agents, MCP servers, agent skills, gateways, and custom resources. This feature allows you to extend registry records with structured fields such as team ownership, data classification, or review status.

Custom metadata fields support free text, URLs, Booleans, and choices from a list of allowed values. The registry validates required fields and values on every record creation or update. You can filter search results on any custom metadata field from the AWS Management Console, the AWS CLI, the AWS SDKs, or the registry's MCP endpoint.

What to do

  • Define a custom metadata schema once per registry with common attributes.
  • Extend the schema with type-specific fields.
  • Set custom metadata values on each registry record.
  • Filter search results using custom metadata fields.

Custom metadata is available in all AWS Regions where AWS Agent Registry is available: US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Sydney), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), and Europe (Ireland).
