Amazon Nova 2 Sonic Release

Amazon announces the availability of Amazon Nova 2 Sonic, a speech-to-speech model for natural, real-time conversational AI. It offers best-in-class streaming speech understanding, efficient dialog handling, and expressive speech generation in multiple languages.

New Features

  • Expanded language support (Portuguese and Hindi)
  • Polyglot voices for native expressivity in multiple languages
  • Turn-taking controllability with adjustable pause sensitivity
  • Cross-modal interaction for seamless voice and text switching
  • Asynchronous tool calling for multi-step tasks
  • One-million token context window for sustained interactions

Integrations

  • Amazon Bedrock’s bidirectional streaming API
  • Amazon Connect and leading telephony providers (Vonage, Twilio, AudioCodes)
  • Open source frameworks (LiveKit, Pipecat)

Availability

Amazon Nova 2 Sonic is available in the following AWS Regions: US East (N. Virginia), US West (Oregon), Asia Pacific (Tokyo), and Europe (Stockholm).
