Amazon Redshift reduces manual snapshot cost for Serverless and RG instances

Amazon Redshift Manual Snapshots Billing Model Update
Amazon Redshift introduces a new billing model for manual snapshots on Amazon Redshift Serverless and Amazon Redshift RG instances. This update meters manual snapshot storage based on unique data blocks across snapshots, leading to lower costs for customers with multiple snapshots.
Customers maintaining multiple snapshots for disaster recovery, testing, or long-term retention will benefit from reduced storage costs. This new model allows for more frequent snapshots to achieve a better recovery point objective (RPO) without proportional cost increases, enhancing disaster recovery strategies. The new billing model applies automatically to both existing and new manual snapshots.
The new billing model is available in all AWS commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions where Amazon Redshift Serverless and Amazon Redshift RG instances are available. For more information, visit the documentation or the blog.
