Amazon Aurora and Amazon RDS now support On-Demand Capacity Reservations

Amazon Aurora and RDS On-Demand Capacity Reservations
Starting today, you can reserve compute capacity for your Amazon Aurora and Amazon RDS DB instances in one or more Availability Zones for as long as you need it. This ensures that DB instance create, restore, scale-compute, and start operations don't fail due to insufficient capacity.
On-Demand Capacity Reservations are ideal for workloads requiring assurance of specific DB instance capacity for business-critical events like migrations, product launches, seasonal peaks, high-availability deployments, or disaster recovery.
- Key Features: Choose DB instance class, engine, Availability Zones, and reserved capacity per Availability Zone.
- Usage: Reserve capacity for immediate use or schedule a reservation for 5 to 120 days in the future with a minimum commitment.
- Billing: Billed at On-Demand rates while active, with discounts from existing Reserved DB Instances or Database Savings Plans applied automatically.
What to do
- Reference the reservation when creating, restoring, modifying, or starting a DB instance.
- Cancel reservations at any time if reserved for immediate use.
- Visit the documentation for Amazon Aurora and Amazon RDS for more information.
