Amazon RDS for Oracle

Amazon RDS for Oracle now supports the Oracle October 2025 Release Update (RU) for Oracle Database versions 19c, 21c and the corresponding Spatial Patch Bundle for Oracle Database version 19c. We recommend upgrading to the October 2025 RU as it includes 6 new security patches for Oracle database products.

The Spatial Patch Bundle update delivers important fixes for Oracle Spatial and Graph functionality to provide reliable and optimal performance for spatial operations.

What to do

  • Apply the October 2025 Release Update from the Amazon RDS Management Console, AWS SDK, or CLI.
  • Enable Automatic Minor Version Upgrade to automatically apply updates during your maintenance window.
  • Upgrade existing instances to engine version '19.0.0.0.ru-2025-10.spb-1.r1' by selecting the "Spatial Patch Bundle Engine Versions" checkbox in the AWS Console.
