Amazon FSx Backups Across Opt-in Regions

Amazon FSx now supports copying file system backups across opt-in Regions for Amazon FSx for Windows File Server, Amazon FSx for Lustre, and Amazon FSx for OpenZFS. This update enhances business continuity, disaster recovery, and compliance capabilities by extending cross-Region, cross-account backup and recovery to regions disabled by default.

What to do

  • Use the Amazon FSx console, API, or CLI to copy backups into and out of opt-in Regions within the same AWS account.
  • Use AWS Backup to copy backups across AWS accounts in the same AWS Organization.
