Amazon ECS Managed Instances Now Available in All Commercial AWS Regions
Amazon ECS Managed Instances is now available in all commercial AWS Regions. This fully managed compute option eliminates infrastructure management overhead while providing access to the full capabilities of Amazon EC2. It dynamically scales EC2 instances to match workload requirements, optimizes task placement, and enhances security through regular security patching.
You can define task requirements such as vCPUs, memory size, and CPU architecture, and Amazon ECS will automatically provision and operate the most optimal EC2 instances. You can also specify desired instance types in Managed Instances Capacity Provider configuration, including GPU-accelerated, network-optimized, and burstable performance instances.
What to do
- Enable ECS Managed Instances in a new or existing Amazon ECS cluster using the AWS Console, Amazon ECS MCP Server, or your favorite infrastructure-as-code tooling.
- Be aware of additional charges for the management of compute provisioned, in addition to regular Amazon EC2 costs.
