Amazon EC2 High Memory U7i Instances Availability

Amazon EC2 High Memory U7i instances with 16TB of memory (u7in-16tb.224xlarge) are now available in the AWS Europe (Ireland) region, U7i instances with 12TB of memory (u7i-12tb.224xlarge) are now available in the AWS Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), and U7i instances with 8TB of memory (u7i-8tb.112xlarge) are now available in the Asia Pacific (Mumbai) and AWS GovCloud (US-West) region.

New Features

  • Memory: U7in-16tb instances offer 16TiB of DDR5 memory, U7i-12tb instances offer 12TiB of DDR5 memory, and U7i-8tb instances offer 8TiB of DDR5 memory.
  • vCPUs: U7i-8tb instances offer 448 vCPUs, U7i-12tb instances offer 896 vCPUs, and U7in-16tb instances offer 896 vCPUs.
  • EBS: Support up to 100Gbps Elastic Block Storage (EBS) for faster data loading and backups.
  • Network Bandwidth: U7i-8tb and U7i-12tb instances deliver up to 100Gbps, and U7in-16tb instances deliver up to 200Gbps.
  • ENA Express: All instances support ENA Express.

What to do

  • Check the availability of U7i instances in your preferred region.
  • Consider migrating to U7i instances for mission-critical in-memory databases like SAP HANA, Oracle, and SQL Server.
