Amazon DynamoDB Accelerator (DAX) is now available in additional Regions

Amazon DynamoDB Accelerator (DAX) Now Available in 17 Additional Regions
AWS has expanded the availability of Amazon DynamoDB Accelerator (DAX) to 17 new regions, enhancing performance and reducing latency for DynamoDB workloads.
- New Regions: Asia Pacific (Hong Kong), Asia Pacific (Hyderabad), Asia Pacific (Jakarta), Asia Pacific (Malaysia), Asia Pacific (Melbourne), Asia Pacific (New Zealand), Asia Pacific (Osaka), Asia Pacific (Seoul), Asia Pacific (Taipei), Asia Pacific (Thailand), Canada West (Calgary), Europe (Milan), Europe (Zurich), Israel (Tel Aviv), Mexico (Central), AWS GovCloud (US-East), and AWS GovCloud (US-West).
- Performance: Up to 10 times performance improvement, from single-digit milliseconds to microseconds, even at millions of requests per second.
- Use Cases: Ideal for read-intensive and bursty workloads such as real-time bidding, gaming leaderboards, and retail product catalogs.
- Benefits: Offloads read traffic from DynamoDB tables, meets local data residency requirements, and provides fully managed operations including automated patching, failover, and scaling.
What to do
- Review the new regions where DAX is available.
- Consider migrating read-heavy workloads to these regions to benefit from improved performance.
- Update your applications to leverage DAX for microsecond-latency caching with minimal code changes.
