Amazon DocumentDB Engine Minor Version 5.0.1 Released

Amazon DocumentDB now supports engine minor versions, starting with 5.0.1. This release includes enhanced aggregation capabilities, new operators, and performance metrics in CloudWatch. Minor versions provide new features and bug fixes without changing the major version, allowing for more controlled upgrades.

New Features

  • Enhanced aggregation capabilities with new operators ($rand, $pow, $dateToParts, $dateFromParts)
  • Active connections metric for instance monitoring
  • Granular command-level performance metrics in CloudWatch

What to do

  • Upgrade to minor version 5.0.1 for the latest features and fixes
  • Use the AWS Management Console or AWS CLI to upgrade existing clusters
  • Consider remaining on LTS if minimizing upgrades is a priority
