Amazon Aurora DSQL JSONB Support

Amazon Aurora DSQL now supports the PostgreSQL JSONB data type with optional compression, enabling the use of PostgreSQL's JSONB type for storing semi-structured data such as system configuration metadata, API parameters, and event logs. This feature helps reduce storage costs with default PostgreSQL compression.

What to do

  • Start using JSONB data type in your tables for semi-structured data.
  • Take advantage of the AWS Free Tier to get started with Aurora DSQL.
  • Check the AWS Region table for regional availability.
  • Learn more about Aurora DSQL data types, including JSONB.
