New General-Purpose Amazon EC2 M8a Instances Available
AWS has announced the general availability of new general-purpose Amazon EC2 M8a instances. These instances are powered by 5th Gen AMD EPYC processors, offering up to 30% higher performance and up to 19% better price-performance compared to M7a instances. M8a instances provide 45% more memory bandwidth, making them ideal for latency-sensitive workloads.
Performance gains include:
- GroovyJVM benchmark: 60% faster
- Cassandra benchmark: up to 39% faster
M8a instances are SAP-certified and come in 12 sizes, including 2 bare metal sizes. They are suitable for high-performance applications such as financial applications, gaming, rendering, and more.
These instances are available in the following regions: US East (Ohio), US West (Oregon), and Europe (Spain). You can purchase them via Savings Plans, On-Demand instances, and Spot instances.
