AWS IAM Policy Simulator Update

AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) has updated the IAM Policy Simulator, a tool for testing and validating IAM policy permissions. Key changes include:

  • Integration with IAM Console: The simulator is now part of the IAM console, allowing you to test policies in the same place you manage identities and policies.
  • Service Control Policies (SCPs) Testing: You can now include SCPs in your simulations to test interactions with identity and resource policies.
  • Enhanced Flexibility: New features let you exclude specific policies to model "what if I remove this policy?" scenarios and cross-account simulations now report per-policy decisions.

These features are available in all AWS Regions where IAM Policy Simulator is available. Access it in the IAM console by choosing Policy simulator in the navigation pane.
