AWS Transform for Full-Stack Windows Modernization
AWS Transform has announced the general availability of offline source transformation, allowing customers to modernize Microsoft SQL Server databases to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL without needing a live database connection. This feature enables enterprises to modernize legacy.NET applications and their SQL Server databases by uploading Data Design Language (DDL) source files.
Key Features
- Converts SQL Server storage and code objects using AWS DMS and an interactive experience.
- Uploads SQL Server DDL files, assesses complexity, and generates a transformation plan.
- Converts tables, schemas, and code objects, validates functional equivalence, and deploys to Aurora PostgreSQL.
- Transforms .NET applications to be PostgreSQL compatible with updated connection strings and data-access calls.
- Iterates on conversion issues in the web console or hands off to preferred IDE using AWS Transform MCP server.
- Synthetic data workflow populates Aurora PostgreSQL with test data for application validation.
Availability
AWS Transform for full-stack Windows modernization and offline source transformation is available in US East (N. Virginia).
