AWS Systems Manager now supports sharing documents through AWS Resource Access Manager
AWS Systems Manager Document Sharing Update
AWS Systems Manager now allows sharing of SSM Documents with an entire AWS organization or specific organizational units (OUs) using AWS Resource Access Manager (AWS RAM). This update simplifies document sharing compared to previous methods, which required sharing with individual account IDs.
To share a document, create an AWS RAM resource share, add the desired SSM Documents, and select the organizations or OUs. Access is managed through AWS authorization, and external accounts receive an invitation to accept before gaining access.
This feature is available in all AWS Regions where Systems Manager is supported, via the Systems Manager console, AWS CLI, and AWS SDKs. There are no additional charges for sharing documents through AWS RAM.
What to do
- Create an AWS RAM resource share
- Add desired SSM Documents
- Select organizations or OUs to share with
