AWS Neuron DRA Driver for EKS

AWS introduces the Neuron Dynamic Resource Allocation (DRA) driver for Amazon EKS, enhancing hardware-aware scheduling for AWS Trainium instances. This driver allows Kubernetes to make topology-aware placement decisions without custom scheduler extensions.

The Neuron DRA driver simplifies deploying AI workloads on Kubernetes by abstracting infrastructure decisions. It allows infrastructure teams to define reusable templates that capture device topology, allocation, and networking policies. ML engineers can reference these templates in their manifests, enabling consistent deployment and efficient node sharing.

The driver supports all AWS Trainium instance types and is available in all regions where AWS Trainium is offered.

What to do

  • Review the Neuron DRA documentation for implementation guides and sample templates.
  • Update your EKS clusters to leverage the Neuron DRA driver for optimized AI workload deployments.
