AWS IoT Services expand support of VPC endpoints and IPv6 connectivity

AWS IoT Core, Device Management, and Device Defender Updates
AWS IoT Core, AWS IoT Device Management, and AWS IoT Device Defender now support Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) endpoints and IPv6. This allows developers to use AWS PrivateLink for VPC endpoints for all data plane operations, management APIs, and credential provider. IoT workloads can now operate entirely within virtual private clouds without traversing the public internet, enhancing security.
IPv6 support for both VPC and public endpoints provides flexibility to connect IoT devices and applications using either IPv6 or IPv4, meeting local IPv6 requirements while maintaining compatibility with existing IPv4 infrastructure.
These features can be configured through the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, and AWS CloudFormation. They are now generally available in all AWS Regions where the relevant AWS IoT services are offered.
What to do
- Configure VPC endpoints and IPv6 support through the AWS Management Console, AWS CLI, or AWS CloudFormation.
- Visit the AWS IoT technical documentation for more information about IPv6 support.
- Visit the AWS PrivateLink documentation for more information about VPC endpoint support.
- Visit the AWS PrivateLink pricing page for information about pricing.
