AWS Cloud WAN Routing Policy Now Available

AWS announces the general availability of Cloud WAN Routing Policy, providing fine-grained controls to optimize route management, control traffic patterns, and customize network behavior across global wide-area networks.

AWS Cloud WAN allows you to build, monitor, and manage a unified global network that interconnects your resources in the AWS cloud and your on-premises environments. The new Routing Policy feature enables advanced routing techniques such as route filtering and summarization, allowing better control over routes exchanged between AWS Cloud WAN and external networks.

Key benefits include:

  • Minimize route reachability blast radius
  • Prevent sub-optimal or asymmetric connectivity patterns
  • Avoid over-running of route-tables
  • Set advanced BGP attributes for customized network traffic behavior
  • Build highly resilient hybrid-cloud network architectures
  • Advanced visibility in routing databases for rapid troubleshooting

What to do

  • Enable Routing Policy using the AWS Management Console, CLI, or SDK
  • No additional charge for enabling Routing Policy
  • Refer to the AWS Cloud WAN documentation and blog for more information
