Announcing TypeScript support in Strands Agents (preview) and more

AWS Release Notes
In May, AWS open sourced the Strands Agents SDK, a Python framework for building and running AI agents. Now, TypeScript support is available in preview, allowing developers to choose between Python and TypeScript for building Strands Agents.
TypeScript support in Strands offers full type safety, async/await support, and modern JavaScript/TypeScript patterns. Strands can be run in client applications, browsers, and server-side applications like AWS Lambda and Bedrock AgentCore. Developers can also build their entire stack in TypeScript using the AWS CDK.
Additional Updates
- Edge Device Support: Generally available, with bidirectional streaming and local model providers like llama.cpp for small-scale devices.
- Strands Steering: Available as an experimental feature, providing a modular prompting mechanism to steer agents toward desired outcomes.
- Strands Evaluations: Available in preview, allowing developers to validate agent behavior, measure improvements, and deploy with confidence.
What to do
- Explore the Strands Agents GitHub to start building.
