Announcing New EC2 R8a Memory-Optimized Instances

AWS Memory-Optimized EC2 R8a Instances Available Now
AWS has launched new memory-optimized Amazon EC2 R8a instances, featuring 5th Gen AMD EPYC processors with a maximum frequency of 4.5 GHz. These instances offer up to 30% higher performance and up to 19% better price-performance compared to R7a instances. They provide 45% more memory bandwidth, making them ideal for latency-sensitive workloads.
R8a instances deliver up to 60% faster performance for GroovyJVM, enhancing request throughput and response times for critical applications. Built on the AWS Nitro System with sixth-generation Nitro Cards, these instances are suitable for high-performance, memory-intensive workloads such as SQL and NoSQL databases, in-memory caches, real-time big data analytics, and EDA applications.
R8a instances are available in 12 sizes, including 2 bare metal sizes, and are SAP-certified, offering 38% more SAPS compared to R7a instances. They are available in US East (N. Virginia), US East (Ohio), and US West (Oregon) regions. Customers can purchase these instances via Savings Plans, On-Demand, and Spot instances.
