Amazon WorkSpaces Applications Updates

Amazon WorkSpaces Applications now supports streaming resources powered by Windows Desktop OS using Bring Your Own License (BYOL). This allows customers to bring their existing Windows Desktop licenses to support Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, providing a consistent desktop experience across on-premises and virtual environments.

With BYOL, the operating system is hosted on hardware dedicated to the customer's AWS account, enabling cost savings by eliminating OS fees. Users experience the same workflows and navigation in both local and remote work environments, reducing onboarding time.

What to do

  • Review the BYOL documentation for eligibility requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Microsoft's licensing requirements.
  • Commit to running a minimum number of streaming resources in a given AWS Region each month.
