Amazon RDS IPv6 Support for VPC Endpoints

Amazon RDS now supports Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) for VPC endpoints of RDS Service APIs, allowing dual-stack (IPv4 and IPv6) connectivity within your VPC without internet traversal. IPv6 provides an expanded address space and enables scaling beyond IPv4 limitations.

What to do

  • Configure dual-stack connectivity for RDS Service APIs within your VPC.
  • Gradually transition applications from IPv4 to IPv6 for safer migration.
