Amazon RDS for SQL Server now supports Developer Edition

Amazon RDS for SQL Server
Amazon RDS for SQL Server now offers Microsoft SQL Server 2022 Developer Edition. This edition is free and includes all Enterprise Edition features, suitable for non-production environments. It helps reduce costs and maintain consistency with production configurations.
Previously, development and test environments required SQL Server Standard or Enterprise Edition, leading to higher costs. Now, using Developer Edition lowers costs for development and testing instances. RDS features like automated backups, software updates, monitoring, and encryption are available for Developer Edition.
Note: SQL Server Developer Edition is for development and testing only, not for production or commercial use. For more details, refer to the Amazon RDS for SQL Server User Guide and Amazon RDS for SQL Server Pricing.
What to do
- Evaluate your current development and test environments to switch to SQL Server Developer Edition.
- Review the Amazon RDS for SQL Server User Guide for setup instructions.
- Check Amazon RDS for SQL Server Pricing for cost details and regional availability.
