Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL Updates

Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL now supports the latest minor versions 18.6, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24. Upgrade to these versions to address CVEs, benefit from bug fixes, and improvements.

  • Enable automatic minor version upgrades.
  • Use the AWS Organizations Upgrade Rollout Policy to orchestrate upgrades in phases.
  • Use Amazon RDS Blue/Green deployments to minimize downtime.

What to do

  • Enable automatic minor version upgrades in the RDS Management Console or via AWS CLI.
  • Configure the AWS Organizations Upgrade Rollout Policy for phased upgrades.
  • Use Blue/Green deployments for minor version upgrades.
