Amazon OpenSearch Serverless Update

The next generation of Amazon OpenSearch Serverless now supports up to 10,000 collections within a single collection group, increased from the previous limit of 1,500. This update allows for more collections to be consolidated into a single collection group, managed under a shared set of capacity limits, and helps reduce costs by sharing compute across many collections.

What to do

  • Consolidate more collections into a single collection group.
  • Manage collections under a shared set of capacity limits.
  • Reduce costs by sharing compute across many collections.

The higher limit applies automatically to new and existing nextgen collection groups in all AWS Regions where Amazon OpenSearch Serverless is available.
