Amazon Neptune Database

Amazon Neptune now supports Graviton3-based R7g and Graviton4-based R8g instances for engine versions 1.4.5 or above in several regions. These instances offer improved performance and cost savings.

Key Features

  • R7g Instances: First AWS database instances with DDR5 memory, up to 30Gbps enhanced networking bandwidth, and 20 Gbps bandwidth to Amazon EBS.
  • R8g Instances: Larger instance sizes up to 48xlarge, 8:1 memory to vCPU ratio, and latest DDR5 memory. AWS Graviton4 processors are up to 40% faster for databases.

What to do

  • Launch R7g and R8g instances via AWS Management Console or AWS CLI.
  • Upgrade Neptune clusters to R7g or R8g instances by modifying the instance type.
