Amazon MQ RabbitMQ 4.2 Support

Amazon MQ now supports RabbitMQ version 4.2, introducing native AMQP 1.0 protocol support, a new Raft-based metadata store, local shovels, and message priorities for quorum queues. This update includes bug fixes and performance improvements for throughput and memory management.

Key highlights include:

  • AMQP 1.0 Protocol: Enhanced features like modified outcome and granular flow control.
  • Configurable Resource Limits: Modify based on application requirements.
  • Quorum Queues: Only replicated and durable queue type, now with message priorities.

What to do

  • Select RabbitMQ 4.2 when creating a new broker using the m7g instance type.
  • Specify the major.minor version for automatic patch version upgrades.
