Amazon MQ RabbitMQ 4.3 Support

Amazon MQ now supports RabbitMQ version 4.3, introducing several enhancements and bug fixes:

  • Quorum Queue Enhancements: Compaction, increased priority levels, native delayed retries, and graceful consumer timeouts.
  • Priority Levels: Supports 32 strict priority levels compared to 2 in previous versions.
  • Failed Message Handling: Automatically sets failed messages aside and retries delivery after a cooldown delay.
  • Consumer Timeouts: Configured specific to the protocol, managed by RabbitMQ Policies.
  • Deprecated Features: Transient non-exclusive queues, Global QoS, and Classic queues v1 storage are no longer supported.

What to do

  • Select RabbitMQ 4.3 when creating a new broker using m7g instance type.
  • Manage patch version upgrades automatically handled by Amazon MQ.
