Amazon Keyspaces (for Apache Cassandra) Updates

Amazon Keyspaces now supports table pre-warming, enabling proactive preparation of new and existing tables to meet future traffic demands. This feature is available for both provisioned and on-demand capacity modes, including multi-Region replicated tables.

Pre-warming allows you to specify expected peak throughput requirements during table creation or updates, ensuring tables are ready for large traffic surges without scaling delays or increased error rates. The process is non-disruptive and runs asynchronously.

What to do

  • Utilize pre-warming for tables to handle sudden traffic spikes.
  • Specify peak throughput requirements during table creation or updates.
  • Continue making other table modifications while pre-warming is in progress.

Pre-warming incurs a one-time charge based on the difference between specified values and baseline capacity. The feature is available in all AWS Commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions where Amazon Keyspaces is offered.
