Amazon EKS Enhancements

Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) now integrates directly with EKS Pod Identity in AWS GovCloud (US) Regions, enhancing the management of cluster operational software that interacts with AWS services outside the cluster.

EKS add-ons that require IAM permissions to interact with AWS services can now simplify Kubernetes applications' access to AWS IAM permissions through EKS Pod Identities. This integration allows for direct management of EKS Pod Identities using EKS add-ons operations via the EKS console, CLI, API, eksctl, and IAC tools like AWS CloudFormation, making it easier to use Pod Identities for EKS add-ons.

This feature is now available in AWS GovCloud (US-East) and AWS GovCloud (US-West) Regions. For more information, refer to the EKS user guide.
