Amazon EKS and Amazon EKS Distro Now Support Kubernetes Version 1.37
AWS has introduced support for Kubernetes version 1.37 in Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) and Amazon EKS Distro. You can now create new EKS clusters using version 1.37 and upgrade existing clusters to version 1.37 via the EKS console, eksctl, or an infrastructure-as-code tool.
Key Improvements
- Metrics API: Promoted to general availability as metrics.k8s.io/v1, providing Pod and node CPU and memory usage.
- Dynamic Resource Allocation (DRA): Device taints and tolerations now in general availability, allowing tainting of devices like GPUs.
- Horizontal Pod Autoscaler: Scale-to-zero feature now in beta and enabled by default, allowing workloads to scale to zero Pods when idle.
What to do
- Create new EKS clusters using Kubernetes version 1.37.
- Upgrade existing clusters to version 1.37.
- Check for potential issues with EKS cluster insights.
