Amazon ECS Firelens Non-Root User Support

Amazon Elastic Container Services (Amazon ECS) now allows you to run Firelens containers as a non-root user by specifying a User ID in your Task Definition. This feature enhances security by reducing the potential attack footprint for users who may gain access to the software.

What to do

  • Update your Task Definition to specify a non-root user ID in the "user" field of your Firelens containerDefinition element.
  • Review the documentation for more details on setting up your Firelens container to run as non-root.
