Amazon ECS now provides Action Logs for deployment and orchestration visibility

Amazon Elastic Container Service (Amazon ECS) introduces Action Logs, a new observability feature that provides detailed, timestamped records of actions performed during service deployments and ECS Managed Daemon updates. Action Logs offer visibility into service-side operations, helping you monitor and troubleshoot workloads without contacting AWS Support.

Key features include:

• Visibility: Detailed log entries with event name, log level, resource ARNs, and status reason.
• Opt-in: Enable at the cluster level via the Amazon ECS console or CloudWatch Logs APIs.
• Destinations: Deliver logs to Amazon CloudWatch Logs, Amazon S3, or Amazon Kinesis Data Firehose.
• Integration: Amazon Q in the Amazon ECS console integrates with Action Logs for automatic issue detection and remediation guidance.

What to do

• Enable Action Logs in the Amazon ECS console or via APIs.
• Choose your preferred log destination: CloudWatch Logs, S3, or Kinesis Data Firehose.
• Utilize Amazon Q for automated issue detection and remediation guidance.
