Amazon ECS Managed Instances in AWS GovCloud Regions
Amazon ECS Managed Instances is now available in the AWS GovCloud (US-East) and AWS GovCloud (US-West) Regions. This fully managed compute option reduces infrastructure management overhead and provides access to the full capabilities of Amazon EC2.

- Dynamically scales EC2 instances to match workload requirements
- Continuously optimizes task placement to reduce costs
- Enhances security with regular security patching every 14 days
- Allows specification of desired instance types, including GPU-accelerated, network-optimized, and burstable performance
What to do
- Enable ECS Managed Instances in a new or existing Amazon ECS cluster using the AWS Console, Amazon ECS MCP Server, or infrastructure-as-code tooling
- Be aware of additional charges for compute management, in addition to regular Amazon EC2 costs
