Amazon ECS Service Deployments

Amazon ECS now allows pausing service deployments at critical stages and continuing them when ready. This feature introduces manual decision points and interactive controls for scenarios like manual approval workflows, operational checks, integration tests, or custom automation.

What to do

  • Configure a new PAUSE deployment lifecycle hook.
  • Use Amazon EventBridge events to trigger automation workflows.
  • Continue or roll back the deployment using the ContinueServiceDeployment API.

This feature is available in all AWS commercial and AWS GovCloud (US) Regions.
